Job Description:
Currently, we are seeking a Program/Project Management Consultant to join the Corporate Division in our Newport Beach, CA office. The Corporate Division supports the goals and initiatives of all other divisions throughout the company and its subsidiaries. These departments include: Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Corporate Development, Public Affairs, Safety & Security, Legal & Compliance.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Program / Project Management Consultant manages a team of project managers, while being responsible for the management of assigned programs / projects and ensuring their successful completion.  This person may also be responsible for managing selected projects.  The assigned programs and projects are designed to meet business needs primarily through the deployment of technology and improved processes.

Management, Mentoring and Skill Development

  • Works with and provides strategic and tactical plans to the Director-Program Management Office regarding execution and standards in fulfillment of department, division and/or enterprise needs.
  • Analyze data on assigned program / projects for efficiency gains and make recommendations to management based on findings.
  • Identify, hire, mentor and develop a team of Project Managers to support assigned programs and projects.
  • Reinforce a services / delivery oriented culture that is consistent with our mission, vision, strategies, guiding principles and overall company values.
  • Partner and assist IT management with the utilization of resources for planning and prioritization purposes.

    Program Planning and Execution

  • Provides overall leadership, guidance, and management of all phases of the assigned programs and projects to ensure business value is delivered.
  • Conduct high-level requirements sessions with business leaders to capture specific business objectives.
  • Working with Executive Sponsor and Business Owner(s), facilitates the definition of business value metrics to be achieved and the steps needed to realize them.
  • Identify and work with key business leaders and stakeholders, including senior management, to develop a detailed approach to achieving objectives and meeting the defined success criteria.
  • Coordinates program component activities (sub-programs, projects, operational initiatives, etc.) to ensure alignment with shared expectations.
  • Management of projects include activities such as a formal project plan and baselined schedule - including initial scope defining, identification of detailed staffing requirements, creation, oversight and quality review of approved project deliverables.
  • Plans and provides appropriate communications across Sponsor, Business Owner(s), Stakeholders, and shared resources to provide adequate visibility and transparency.
  • Provides on-going benefit attainment reporting throughout the program lifecycle and focuses on benefit sustainment to ensure that planned benefits are realized and sustained post-program.
  • Identifies, manages and communicates changes to plan across sponsors, stakeholders and governance groups.
  • Oversees project manager adherence to and compliance with all relevant CIT and program standards.Contributes to thoughtful and creative discussions with sponsor(s), department and division management on resource and scheduling, plans and challenges.

    FACTORS FOR SUCCESS:

  • Demonstrated program management experience, effectively managing multiple IT programs or projects involving cross-functional and potentially multi-site teams.  Experience managing cloud, SaaS, IaaS and PaaS related programs and projects is preferred.
  • Strong execution and leadership experience, in delivering complex technology programs with quantified business benefits across matrixed teams.
  • Extensive experience utilizing various program and project methodologies with the ability to tailor the approach to accommodate unique program needs and requirements.
  • Good technical background and understanding of business and technology solutions.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop less experienced project managers and analysts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic economic, budgeting, and accounting principles and practices.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • 3+ years of experience managing and developing a team of Project Managers
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent work experience required.
  • Master's degree or equivalent highly desirable.
  • Project Manager Professional or Program Manager Professional certification desired.
  • Six Sigma certification desired.
