Clinical data acquisition and exchange are integral to UnitedHealth Groups health care operations, care management, and clinical analytics initiatives. The CDEI (Clinical Data Exchange & Integration) department is an enterprise capability responsible for the receipt, validation, processing, and distribution of clinical data relevant to the care of UHG members to a number of downstream consuming applications. We are actively seeking a candidate who will lead the CDEI team and build upon their success. The candidate is expected to understand the health information technology industry, clinical data vocabularies, and transmission protocols. An understanding of claims data would be an asset.Primary Responsibilities:

Work with multiple teams to define architectural solutions for clinical data intake and distribution
Analyze and define internal and external customer requirements for clinical data exchange
Plan, execute, and monitor operational efforts necessary to improve operational and project efficiencies
Assess financial impact of proposed solutions
Support UAT (User Acceptance) testing for implemented solutions
Define and review vendor statements of work, service level agreements and process flows
Provide technical and data standards subject matter expertise to business team
Mentor business team on technology solutions and data standards

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
5+ years of data integration or data interoperability experience
Experience in healthcare vertical including EMR, Health Insurance, Acute care, Post-Acute, Health Systems, and HIE
Experience with integration technologies including: Ensemble, Cache, HealthShare or other interoperability platforms such as Mirth, Orion Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, eGate, JCAPS, InterSystems, Optum, etc.
Experience with both common and emerging interoperability standards such as HL7 V2.x, (essential) as well as CCD, C - CDA XML V3, IHE profile, FHIR (desirable)
Direct hands - on experience in architecting and growing flexible, scalable, and highly - available interoperability systems
Proficient in use of project management principles to plan, execute, and monitor operational efforts necessary to improve operational and project efficiencies
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Disciplined, engineering - oriented mind set
Good verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree in a technology / computer science related field
Experience with leading EHR vendors including Epic, Cerner, GE, Allscripts, Meditech or HIE is desirable
Experience with complete software development life cycle
Experience with writing business requirements for clinical data applications and data interfaces
