Job Description

Administer the operations and governance model for the BCBSRI corporate business continuity management strategy. Develop and implement plans to achieve effective communication and efficient continuation of business operations in the event of a business interruption. Support testing of business continuity plans and strategies. Manage and support continuity plan maintenance and ensure that controls are in place to capture change. Support incident management in the event of a business interruption by coordinating teams, and communication of business continuity activities as directed by the incident commander.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Administer the operations and governance process for the business continuity program.
  • Execute communication plans as directed to support and facilitate efficient continuation of business operations in the event of a business interruption.
  • Evaluate gaps in BCBSRI business continuity, emergency, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Assist business units with analysis of essential, time-sensitive business functions to determine appropriate recovery time periods and necessary resources.
  • Conduct periodic tests of business area plans to audit content, accuracy, completeness. Ensure key business associates are identified and know how to perform their responsibilities in the event of an emergency/business interruption.
  • Coordinate business test results for technology recovery exercises. Collaborate with internal departments to ensure business requirements are developed and testing of business continuity strategies and plans occurs.
  • Assist business units with the training and education of employees on business continuity plans and strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal audit, enterprise risk management, and information technology to assist business units with compliance and business continuity risk mitigation efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Management or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Three or more years of experience in business continuity management, information systems support, change management, risk management, or disaster recovery planning.
  • Five or more years of experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Experience running training and testing exercises.
  • Three or more years of experience in the health insurance industry.

Preferred Education, Additional Qualifications and Experience :

  • Certifications: Associate Business Continuity Professional, Business Continuity Professional, or Master Business Continuity Professional.
  • Proficiency using SunGard Assurance CM or other Business Continuity Planning Software.
  • Proficiency using SunGard AssuranceNM, Emergency Notification tool.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, local or other applicable regulatory requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:

  • Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery planning concepts, strategies and methodologies.
  • Understanding of network infrastructures, data management concepts, server and desktop virtualization, IBM server environments, routing protocols, and enterprise backup systems
  • Business process analysis.
