This reporting can be done directly to any member of management, including Human Resources or Corporate Security, or can be reported through Associateds anonymous Ethics Hotline.
Under the direction of the Business Banking Team Leader, develop new business relationships throughout an assigned territory. Primary focus is prospecting new business households to the bank by proactively prospecting in the market. As part of that effort, the Small Business Development Officer works closely with internal partners, civic and social community groups and external centers of influence (COI) to increase Associated's customer base by consultatively selling and implementing a variety of business products (checking, MMAs, business loans, lines of credit, SBA, Merchant Services and payroll products). The Small Business Development Officer will refer all qualified prospects to the appropriate internal business line partner based on the prospect's business attributes. Along with business loans, the Small Business Development Officer will grow deposits and fee income, as well as refer appropriate prospects to merchant services, cash management and other applicable resources within the bank.

Small Business Development Officers are out of the office conducting sales activities a minimum of 80% of their work time.
Responsible for expanding and deepening customer relationships by identifying customers needs comprehensively and matching their needs with selections and resources within the colleagues assigned business line and across all business lines of Associated Bank.

Responsible for Small Business loan and deposit relationship generation through networking events, civic organizations, community events and working their personal contacts. May also receive referrals from commercial banking partners, branches and other lines of business.
Refer business to Consumer Banking, Commercial Banking, Treasury Management and other business partners as appropriate. This position is responsible for cross-selling all bank services, especially non-borrowing services.
The Small Business Development Officer is to develop business relationships by profiling and analyzing financial data to determine the merits of specific loan requests and recommend structure.
Build and maintain relationships with business line leadership along all business lines within market. Identify customer needs and refer customers to business partners within and across lines of business who can best meet those needs.
Initiate new business opportunities for the bank through the development of new Centers of Influence business contacts to ensure sufficient new loan and deposit volume.
Provide financial advice and counsel to prospective clients regarding trends and conditions of the business environment and general banking trends though bank approved sources, while providing an enhanced client experience.
Participate in community and business functions/groups to ensure a positive image for the bank within the regions marketplace. Establish referral contacts within the community.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Business, Finance, or Accounting


Experience Level



4-7 years Business Banking Experience, Credit Training, Non-borrowing Product Expertise.
