Job Description:
Innovation and Project Management Analyst

Time divided equally between RSD's divisional Program Management Office (PMO), and support of RSD Innovation Management Office.  For all initiatives, responsible for applying and executing traditional project management methodology on multiple research and/or implementation projects of varying sizes on a division and company-wide basis. 

  • Gathers, documents, develops specifications, tests, evaluates, validates and presents business summary and/or requirements to Project Sponsors (Officers in both RSD & Corporate). 
  • Oversees projects by analyzing complex business processes and providing possible solutions, manages project meetings with sponsors and communicates results, coordinates implementation phases if applicable with affected departments and manages ongoing maintenance of projects
  • Project management scope to also include creating and developing presentations for Executive Management.
  • Provide project tracking for management using status report templates and metrics. 
  • Create and maintain division master project files that adhere to established documentation requirements.
  • Applies design thinking and other innovative methodologies to effectively facilitate cross-functional project teams. 
  • Facilitates journey mapping sessions and design thinking training.
  • Support Innovation Management Programs geared towards challenging existing approaches, promoting increased collaboration, sharing knowledge, and experimentation.
  • Utilizes traditional project management methods noted above to ensure expected deliverables are implemented and meet the strategic objectives of core stakeholders.
  • Builds and shares innovation management subject matter expertise with Program Management Office to cultivate innovative thought strategies across the division.    

Project Management & Innovation Portfolio Activities

  • Consistently and effectively uses PMO and Innovation Management standard methodology
  • Researches, investigates and analyzes all aspects of assigned projects
  • Demonstrates significant knowledge and understanding of all relevant aspects of each assigned project
  • Establishes rapport with Project Sponsor and is always "in the know" for each project
  • Conducts all project meetings and facilitation activities in a very professional manner with a published agenda, minutes, etc.
  • Meetings are kept on-track and meet the expectations of the project sponsors
  • Consistently drives projects to successful completion by target date, with well-written and accurate weekly project statuses and updates 
  • Represents the RSD division in a professional and positive manner with a "can do" attitude
  • Provides documentation, to be maintained in the "master" Program Management Office and Innovation Management project files
  • Demonstrates organizational, time management, oral and written communications, and multi-tasking skills
  • Ensures all objectives and deliverables are consistent with sponsor expectations
  • Proactively identify innovation opportunities (e.g., new communication options & idea sharing)
  • Facilitate activities using design thinking and other innovative methodologies to challenge traditional thinking while being mindful of the Pacific Life culture
  • Promote & live a mindset of asking questions, being curious, and always striving to be better
  • Connect with division strategy, customer experience, teams etc. to ensure awareness and alignment is a priority


  • Possess excellent customer service, critical thinking, research and analysis skills
  • Excellent written / oral communication skills
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Experience with business strategy and/or business analysis (e.g., cost / benefit analysis)
  • Possesses business process experience & acumen
  • Requires good organizational skills and the ability to work independently
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of division and corporate management
  • Possesses project management / coordination experience & acumen, preferably in the financial services industry at encompassing increasing levels of project complexity
  • Ability to anticipate, identify and overcome impediments to project success
  • Ability to create business opportunity stories that are objective, comprehensive, and relevant to stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of division and corporate management
  • 4-year college degree
  • 5+ years of experience and/or MBA
