Job Description


AMCS (Allstate Management Consulting Services) is a trusted internal organization providing integrated consulting services to enable our Allstate clients to achieve Our Shared Vision. We leverage enterprise resources to build a stronger business and act as an advisory partner that helps to improve Allstate performance by identifying and analyzing innovative business & technology opportunities, architecting new operating models, designing and improving business processes and providing organizational redesign services.  We understand the organization and are able to influence business strategy by partnering with leadership and acting as connectors, bringing the right voices and fact-based information together so that business and technology leaders can make informed decisions that benefit our customers.


This position reports to a Senior Manager or Manager and will be responsible for leading the development and execution of management consulting projects. In addition this resource will be responsible for supporting the development of lower-level team members, maintaining the methodology of the consulting service and cultivating and fostering complex client partnerships and relationships.  This resource should be an expert in the methodology of the consulting service they will be supporting and should be able to drive business opportunities that benefit Allstate and Allstate’s customers.


Key Responsibilities


  • Creates a level of client intimacy that reflects knowledge and understanding of the client's organization, business, and needs.  Able to influence others based on earned respect and experience. 
  • Builds deep knowledge of management consulting tools and methodologies in specific areas and understands how and when to apply them while maintaining a breadth in knowledge of management consulting tools, approaches, etc.  Provides expert thought leadership in organizational development capacity; includes identification of organizational, leadership, and individual client needs.
  • Contributes to Allstate strategy.  Possesses cross-functional awareness; understands the different contributions from other disciplines and work with colleagues from across the organization to achieve better results.
  • Understands the organization and business goals and the reasons for those goals; articulates the linkage between business goals and what that means for organization practices.  Drives plans and strategies that support organization and business goals. Drives the solving of business problems and implementing strategic change.
  • Proposes solutions, implements and provides input into the development of management consulting processes, services, and solutions that support the strategic direction and have a long term impact on achieving business goals.  Leads and facilitates others through the design of solutions and strategies.  Understands and applies change approaches and methodologies in a variety of complex situations.
  • Leads client contracting conversations of a complex nature to ensure client and consultant needs are identified and intended outcomes are understood.  Provides the appropriate consultation at a more expert level for senior leaders to help clients with sustainable leadership and engagement practices.  Applies management consulting thinking and rigorous inquiry.
  • Identifies issues and forms hypotheses, formulating and implementing recommendations/solutions for clients/users.  Incorporates business and industry knowledge of trends and best practices in solving complex problems.  Takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. 
  • Leads the development of client documentation and presents results and recommendations to the client.  Contributes strategic perspective to complex client engagements.

  • Leads client presentations and conducts complex and high-level or sensitive interviews, focus groups and workshops.
  • Seeks innovations in industry standards and practices to develop methodologies to be used in an engagement.
  • Supports, identifies, and promotes opportunities in innovation and improvements that champion corporate strategies, anticipating broader implications to the enterprise.  May include leading teams in evaluating and pursuing new business and operational improvement efforts.
  • Leads critical and complex program execution.  Leads and/or consults on business unit or organizational-wide change efforts. 
  • Appropriately integrates solutions, business strategies, and organizational priorities. 
  • Reviews communications related to the engagement.  Designs and presents strategic summaries of analysis and recommendations for multiple audiences, including executive level.
  • Counsels with and influences clients and partners by leveraging knowledge, expertise and best practices.  Manages the resolution of issues and monitors client satisfaction of delivery.
  • Provides support in removing barriers to cooperative efforts with teams across functions. 
  • Independently determines approach to managing projects and teams. 
  • Provides timely communication of project health. 
  • Helps manage development of the business case and acceptance of the plan for single or multi-phase, complex projects that span multiple teams or areas. 
  • Provides informal training to all levels on the team.  Proactively identifies areas for improvement in team members and provides positive feedback on suggestions for improving processes.


Job Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree is required for this position. A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or advanced degree is desired but not required. PMP certification desired, but not required.  7+ years experience in consulting, strategic planning, and/or project management. Knowledge and experience with business transformation and operating model consulting projects a plus.
