VCU Health System's RAM Care department is seeking a full time Project Manager / Process Engineer. The Project Manager / Process Engineer is responsible for the independent and collaborative management of complex projects supporting the clinical effectiveness program, RAM (Reliable, Appropriate, and Measureable) Care, at the VCU Health System. Responsible for ensuring sound use of project management processes, project reporting, fiscal management, and for the success of projects measured in terms of attaining objectives for project scope, schedule, cost, and quality. Contributes to the successful implementation and support of clinical process improvement through development and implementation of efficient business processes, evidence-based best practice models of care and electronic medical record solutions that support and further the mission of patient care (as well as research and education) while maintaining efficiency, reducing cost, improving sustainability and maximizing profitability.

 

Responsibilities

The Project Manager (Process Engineer) will work with the Quality, Safety, and Service programs and clinical project teams, including physicians in training, to design, plan and execute process improvement projects. Development and management of elaborate project plans with complex execution is required, including interactions with staff and leaders from all departments and disciplines in both clinical and business areas.

-Facilitate large interdisciplinary teams to analyze and identify opportunities for clinical process improvements

-Use best practices and follow organization standards to carry out business process analysis, re-engineering, process measurements and change management activities to include appropriate and timely escalation of issues and concerns

-Manage cost and time constraints

-Perform risk assessments

-Work with other team members in integration of new and existing business processes

-Work with stakeholders to identify business requirements, processes and risks

-Provide information throughout the various project phases to the project teams with regard to all aspects of Process Engineering

-Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFD's), logic diagrams and cause & effect charts for the project

-Provide technical expertise to the project execution team

 

The ideal candidate will able to work with minimal supervision to prioritize workload and meet deadlines, is detail orientated, and possesses effective analytical and problems solving skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively are required.

 

Qualifications
Required

Master's Degree in Business Administration, Quality Engineering, or related field, or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
Minimum of five 5 years of experience in managing process improvement projects   
Experience utilizing advanced improvement science and project management methodologies
Proven track record of successful projects

MS Project and MS Excel advanced proficiency

Preferred

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher)
Experience with organization-wide performance/process improvement and/or managing projects in a healthcare provider setting with a wide variety of services 
Academic medical center experience

Experience in healthcare clinical or leadership role
Additional coursework in statistics and quality improvement science

An understanding of or experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
